SPERRY VAN NESS/BETTER CAPITAL PARTNERS
LOS ANGELES, CALIF., JAN. 16, 2009 – Sperry Van Ness International (SVNI), one of the nation's largest commercial real estate brokerage firms, will launch Sperry Van Ness/Better Capital Partners on Monday, January 19, 2009. The new division will be led by premier investment banker Eric H. Better who will serve as President and Principal of the new division. A new website has been created exclusively for Sperry Van Ness/Better Capital Partners and can be found on the internet at www.svnbcp.com.
Sperry Van Ness/Better Capital Partners will offer Sperry Van Ness advisors and their clients a full capital stack which includes debt, equity and joint ventures for all forms of commercial real estate properties nationwide. The firm's services include: Permanent, Bridge, Mezzanine, Construction, and customized financing for acquisition and refinance.

Sperry Van Ness recruited Eric H. Better from Los Angeles based George Smith Partners Inc., a leading commercial real estate investment banking firm. Mr. Better has formed a dedicated commercial real estate banking division that will provide financial services to more than 1000 Sperry Van Ness advisors and their clients nationwide. Mr. Better is joined by a seasoned team of commercial real estate lenders, bankers, brokers and sales professionals.
Team members include: Principals-Morty Rosenthal, Jon Hosea, Gilda Rivera and Alyssa Better. Mr. Rosenthal previously served as a Director in the Westlake, California office of DUS lender, Arbor Commercial Mortgage. Prior management positions include: Vice President, Wholesale Regional Director of California for IndyMac Commercial Lending Corporation and Regional Loan Manager for Affinity Bank.
Mr. Hosea has held management positions in the commercial real estate financing divisions of JP Morgan, CWCapital, Red Capital and KeyBank. Ms. Rivera formerly served as Vice President at George Smith Partners Inc., and Washington Mutual Bank's CMBS division, Mrs. Better formerly served as Director of Sales for MCI, Vice President of Sales-Key 3 Media and Director of Sales for Cable & Wireless. Sperry Van Ness/Better Capital Partners will be adding a minimum of (5) five more team members within the next 60 days.

Prior to forming Sperry Van Ness/Better Capital Partners, Mr. Better served as Vice President for George Smith Partners Inc. a leading commercial real estate investment banking firm. Prior positions include: Vice President of Originations, Commercial Realty Consultants and Director, Slatt Mortgage Co.
Mr. Better received his Bachelor's degree from Hunter College in New York City. He obtained his Real Estate Certificate (specialization in finance) from UCLA, and is an active member of numerous industry related associations.
